THE OKLAHOMA KID stands for breathtaking modern metal that bridges the gap between technical intricacy and energizing rhythms. Since their formation in 2012 the band – consisting of David J. Burtscher, Fred Stölzel, Robert Elfenbein, Tomm Brümmer and Andreas Reinhard – has consistently pushed the envelope and have established their foundation in the German metal scene.
Their 2014 debut EP »Fortuneteller« impressed the scene with their very own blending of genres: „Fortuneteller encapsulates the very essence of the post-hardcore and metalcore genres, but effectively intertwines tech metal and crushing djent riffs into a very solid effort.” – KennyMcGalem, Bandcamp
Already one year later the band added a second EP »Doppelganger« to their catalogue for which they hired acknowledged producer Aljoscha Sieg (ESKIMO CALLBOY, BUTTER THE BREAD WITH BUTTER, NASTY) and solidified their sonic vision. The band’s signature bouncing grooves and futuristic synthesizers were completed by catchy hooks and sing-alongs.
The band teamed up with visionary director Pavel Trebukhin (ALAZKA, STICK TO YOUR GUNS, ANNISOKAY) to create a unique music video for their hit-single ‘Scharlatan’, for which they would receive the national PopFish Music Video Award.
THE OKLAHOMA KID toured the country with renowned acts such as STICK TO YOUR GUNS, CARNIFEX, EVERGREEN TERRACE and HATEBREED and electrified crowds with their passionate, relentless performance.
They are no longer an insider tip and a force to be reckoned with. No matter if live at a festival or on the record player in the living room; THE OKLAHOMA KID will change your perception of what metal is capable of.

The multifaceted artist looks back on his varied carrier – stylistic inconsistency and a penchant for changing genres has been there throughout. So FERRIS MC already surprised with rough left field beats and riffs on his first solo album »Asimetrie« (1999) and »Fertich!« (2001) instead of the current gangster rap cliché. “Punk rock and rap had a formative influence in my youth, that’s why there is a minimum of one crossover track on almost every record I made”, explains Reimann. “With rap I reached the point where I can just repeat myself over and over again to fulfil expectations. But this is not how music works for me because I have to make my grade to release the energy I need to turn in a good record.”
Even though many musicians tend to ensconce themselves in a niche sooner or later, Ferris doesn’t pigeon-hole himself. Neither as a musician nor as an actor – his second nature. While the first years of his carrier where coined with hip-hop, the second decade was shaped by joining the electro formation DEICHKIND in which he was a member from 2008 till 2018.
With »Wahrscheinlich Nie Wieder Vielleicht«FERRIS MC is heralding the start of his rock era.
The changeover to the guitar sound wasn’t difficult for him. It’s quite the contrary, he found his roots. “I liked and listened from RAMONES via DIE ÄRZTE through to EXPLOITED in the 80’”.
Born in the Rhineland he looks back onto his youth “I was a little punk back then and wanted to make music myself. It was fabulous and super fun to be in the studios with MADSEN and to record this new album. All of a sudden I felt like 18 again – fresh and unspent”
Beside producing the record, MADSEN cut it live in the studios. A close collaboration which was a lot of fun for both sides.
The content of the record covers a wide spectrum of subjects. The title track ‘Wahrscheinlich Nie Wieder Vielleicht’ and ‘Allianz Der Außenseiter’ allude to his neverending role of the underdog. ‘Niemandsland’, the only rap track on the record denounces the prevailing consumption and meritocracy. Musically, the record has plenty to offer, beside the calmer tracks like ‘Der Teufel Tanzt Weiter’ there are a lot of heavy songs such as ‘Shitstorm’ too.
“I’ve made this record for the people who like handmade music and are ready to embark on a shouting and screaming FERRIS MC dispassionately of his past and letting his rapping alter ego behind.” the musician summarizes his record. “I no longer want to help oneself of an image. I want to make music which suits me as a human being. It’s time to show the world who I really am.”
Following the studio collaboration with MADSEN there will be several support shows on the Lichtjahre-Tour 2019. So prepare yourself because the third decade of the self-appointed freak stands in the sign of Rock!

ROYAL REPUBLIC don’t believe in “guilty pleasures” – only pleasures, free of compromise. Since meeting at the Malmö Academy Of Music in 2007, they’ve become Sweden’s most addictive rock’n’roll export; mixing riffy guitars, king-sized tunes and jet-packed beats with their own eclectic tastes and inimitable joie de vivre. Plus the kind of snazzy suits most of their contemporaries wish they had the balls to pull off. They encapsulate the raw spirit of punk with the hips of James Brown and swaggering braggadocio of James Bond. No wonder they struggle to label themselves! They’ll rock the shit out of you and make you dance like you’ve just won the lottery.

Swedish alternative metalcore outfit IMMINENCE following up the successful releases of the songs ‘Paralyzed’ and ‘Infectious’ with their third single ‘Saturated Soul’ off their upcoming third full length record »Turn The Light On«, which will be available on April 26th, 2019 via Arising Empire. The new songs prove and extend the variety in IMMINENCE’s song writing and further shows the diverseness in the tracks of their upcoming album.
“Saturated Soul is one of those songs that I just can’t hide my excitement about. I think it’s one of the best manifestations of a song that turned out to be exactly what we hoped for and caught us precisely in the moment we were at while writing it. It also proved to us that our songwriting doesn’t really apply to any rules, because the song is different, and comes from completely different sources of inspiration and emotions in contrast to the two previous singles. Saturated Soul is a perfect example that Imminence will never be only one thing.” – Harald Barret
To celebrate the upcoming release of their brand new record the band will be on their own headline release tour together with special guest THE OKLAHOMA KID in April/May formerly known as the selective spring shows 2019.

TURN THE LIGHT ON
The third and highly anticipated album »Turn The Light On« embodies the diversity and vastness in IMMINENCE’s identity of heartrending emotion. A significant milestone in the group’s discography and an exceptional composition of sheer force and fragility that fears no boundaries or constraints.
Since the release of the previous record »This Is Goodbye« (2017), the Swedish alternative metalcore band IMMINENCE have strongly established themselves in the European scene as one of the most up-and-coming and exciting bands on the market today. With the success of their own headline tour and several sold out shows, they have reached a new plateau and are ready to truly distinguish themselves and their sound with their next album.
“The new Imminence album is called Turn The Light On which encourages to shed light on the darkness we carry within. The lyrical theme of the record is inner conflict, self-doubt, depression and self-destruction. Music has always been, and now more than ever, an outlet and a way for me to cope with these emotions. This is my testimony to my mental ill-health. It is the most soul-baring, personal and important piece of work we have ever made as a band.”
– Eddie Berg
Fronted by vocalist and violinist Eddie Berg, guitarist Harald Barrett, drummer Peter Hanström and bass player Christian Höijer; IMMINENCE was formed in the southernmost part of Sweden and have over the years become one of the country’s most promising acts with a diverse sound and universe, embracing everything from metalcore to acoustic music. Founded by Eddie and Harald when they were just teenagers, the band grew organically with a constantly expanding fan-base all over the world while touring actively in Europe since the release of the band’s breakthrough single ‘The Sickness’ (2015).
One step backwards, two steps forward. With »Turn The Light On«, IMMINENCE dives right in to themselves and comes up with a collection of songs that covers the wide musical territory that has become associated with the band over the years. The new record mixes the rawness of the band’s hard-hitting, unrelenting instrumentation with the grandiosity and class from frontman Eddie Berg’s unmistakable melodies and violin arrangements. »Turn The Light On« demonstrates a remarkable musical diversity with each and every song being unique in its sound and message, creating a forcefield that embodies the entity that undoubtedly is Imminence.
“It has been two years of incredibly hard work and song writing leading up to Turn The Light On. This album was not about moving forward as much as moving inwards. It was about finding ourselves and showing what Imminence is all about. I believe it encapsulates and defines our sound over these years as a group. The creative process was anything but easy and gave me a lot of time for soul-searching, both musically and personally. Having waded through the darkest time in my mind for the better part of creating these songs and writing these lyrics, the music was the thing I held on to and that kept my head just above the surface long enough to catch my breath. The same way that it became a light in the dark for me, I hope that others may find the same in listening to our songs. That is what this album is, a symbol of hope. I truly think it all comes together as our best release as a band to date.”
– Eddie Berg
”Even though we worked harder and more intensely than ever before, the writing process has been liberating and unhindered. I could wake up in the morning and feel inspired to write a song with a completely different approach than the one we wrote the day before, and I think both me and Eddie did our very best to keep our minds open throughout the writing of the album. There were really no rules applied. We actually never had a concrete idea of how we wanted the record to turn out, which was a bit worrying at the time. We had made a huge step in to another musical direction with This Is Goodbye and the road ahead was unclear. With time, we saw Turn The Light On taking shape right before our eyes and knew that all we had to do was to trust our own instincts and creativity.”
– Harald Barrett
»Turn The Light On« was written and produced by guitarist Harald Barrett and vocalist Eddie Berg together, with drummer PeterHanström writing additional drum parts and arrangements. The songs were mainly recorded at Alias Studio in France by Bert and Eric Poncet who further helped to engineer and produce the album. Drums were produced by Christian Svedin and recorded in Studio Mega, Sweden, while additional recordings of choirs and strings were recorded by the band in both Germany and at their home studio in Sweden.
The mix and master was done by HenrikUdd (winner of Best Producer at Heavy Music Awards 2017). During the years he’s been working with tons of talented bands and musicians and has been mixing, mastering, produced and recorded some of the most critically acclaimed albums with acts such as ARCHITECTS, BRING ME THE HORIZON, AT THE GATES, DELAIN, POWERWOLF, I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN, HAMMERFALL and many more.
”When I heard Henrik’s first mix draft, I was instantly convinced. It was all there and I had the feeling that he understood what we wanted to achieve with the new songs. Henrik delivered a production that was absolutely massive, yet elegant and authentic, without losing the organic touch and identity of us as musicians.”
From the deep, dark blue background of IMMINENCE’s ferocious and chaotic debut album I to the simplistic and jagged, colorful bird of the modernistic and melodic sophomore album »This Is Goodbye«, once again the band have worked with the same innovative designer Jakob Koc to create the artwork for »Turn The Light On«.
“Jakob is a long term friend of the band and it felt natural that we should ask him before anyone else. At this point he’s practically a part of Imminence, being so influential in the look and outcome of our visual universe since the start. There’s something about his simplistic approach that speaks to and corresponds with me deeply. He has continually developed alongside with the band and I think he really outdid himself this time. The artwork is a perfect representation of the lyrical theme, with the beautiful and bright façade concealing something much darker beneath, paired with the distinctive icon that symbolizes hope and light in the dark. Symbols have virtually become something of a trademark sign of the band and this one is definitely my favorite so far.”
– Eddie Berg

The future belongs to POLAR. You’re either in or you’re out.
Getting older is just a fact of life. It’s something we all have to come to terms with, whether we like it or not. With age comes maturity and with maturity comes a new and, in a lot of ways, clearer outlook on life and the things that you care about. The same can be said when it comes to being in a band. When you realise that the music you once made doesn’t reflect who you are today, you need to take the reigns and make that change or be stuck in your old ways forever.
This ethos has sat at the heart of the creation of »Nova«, the new album from London UK post-hardcore heads POLAR. Following on from 16’s stellar »No Cure No Saviour«, this is a new style of statement of intent from the band. Slick, sophisticated and savage in equally devastating measure, its 12 tracks showcase the sound of a band rewriting their history and looking to a bright and belligerent future. “A nova is described as the brightest burning star and we felt that this album was going to be our brightest material”, guitarist Fabian Lomas explains. “Before we wrote about things that we saw in the world and were passionate about. Some people even used to think that we were becoming a political band. This time the things we are writing about are much more personal to us. It’s a lot more rewarding. We all have different ups and downs in life and the band and we have such a perfect platform to deliver these feelings. We are touching on some very personal subjects that are close to our heart. As we have got older in life there are different things that happen to us. We have this forum where we can talk specifically about them and when certain people know that certain songs are about them it’s touching for them and rewarding for us.”
Flying out of their cage back in 2009 with a gob in eye and a boot to the temple, the POLAR you see standing before you in 2018, completed by vocalist Adam ‘Woody’ Woodford, guitarist Tom Green, bassist Jonny Bowman and drummer Nick Jones, is very different to the beast of previous years. More considered, more straight lined but no less passionate about the art that they are creating, »Nova« shows that they have experimentation on the mind, something which you wouldn’t usually expect from a band who are more inclined to rip your face off than make you think. But the times they are a changing. “This album has gone lot of deeper into creativeness. The heavier bits and heavier and the choruses are a lot more interesting. It does very much more pop orientated too, but in our own unique way. Where a lot of bands go lighter as they move along, we have arguably got heavier while also being more accessible. There are so many different forms of being heavy after all.” – POLAR.
It’s the sort of scope that demonstrates how far the band has come but also how far they still want to travel. Take first single ‘Drive’ for example. Gargantuan riffs and gruff vocals flow effortlessly into lush textures of emotion and electronic twinges. It’s good old-fashioned British hardcore, but not as you know it.
What has come before doesn’t matter because the future is all that is on POLAR’s mind. With ambition at its absolute peak and with the strongest line-up they have ever had in tow, the only way is up and up and up and up. This is the most ferocious, varied and utterly compelling that POLAR have ever sounded, and you would be a fool to not come along for the ride. “Our aim has always been to be on an upward trajectory”, Fabian Lomas concludes. “We want this to be the next big step up. We write every album as if it’s our last. That’s the best way that any band can write an album because that’s how you get your best material out. Everyone has stepped up and put forward something creative. It’s the deepest we have ever gone. If you have to turn around and say ‘well that’s it’, you have to be able to say that you gave it your best shot. We need to aim for the stars and land on the moon. ‘Nova’ is basically going to elevate us.”
The future belongs to POLAR. You’re either in or you’re out.

“We do not fit in any drawer, we are the whole closet!”
That’s how the musicians of the Berlin band ENGST describe themselves, following their own path since two years now. With an unconventional mix of German rock music, a spicy pinch of punk rock, pop elements and catchy melodies, the four guys from the German capital stand out clearly from the unified breadth of the broader music scene. In fact, this band has a lot to say, which is certainly related to the rich past of the four Berlin guys and is clearly reflected in the lyrics of frontman Matthias Engst. He himself grew up in a problem borough of Berlin, where he still lives today, and so most of their songs relate to autobiographical experiences of the 32-year-old singer. He addresses social evils in society and the growing influence of the political right side, against which the frontman and the band clearly site themselves. ENGST make clear that a position against fascism and xenophobia should not be a musical fad and therefore pick up on exactly these topics, without becoming one-sided, clumsy or striking. But also topics such as friendship, love or the little stories of everyday life find their appropriate place in the songs ofENGST.
The keyword “authenticity” is very important for the boys, so it’s not surprising that Matthias Engst rejected a label signing deal in 2015 after winning a music show (“The Band” with Samu Haber) at Germany’s TV channel Pro7because they wanted to turn him into a model-pop star without an own personality. He decided to turn his back on the illusory world of TV and casting shows and to return to his own, not always shimmering and brilliant life, to follow his own visions for his musical career and found a serious band on himself.
ENGST are not only thrown together musicians who storm the stage together, but at the same time friends, family and fans of authentic, handmade rock music. With its rough edges, the band becomes interesting for a wide audience and at ENGST concerts, the boundaries between the stage and the audience are barely noticeable – with flowing sweat, euphorically boiled blood and the urge to sing out loud, it is impossible not to be spellbound by the boys’ pulsing live performance.
In 2017, the band found their fitting home at the label Arising Empire, releasing their first EP »Engst« in the same year. In addition to numerous shows, tour supports and festival concerts, the band constantly released new music videos and frenetically worked on their debut album »Flächenbrand« (Engl. “Major Fire”).
The musicians reveal that this album contains the most intimate and honest moments of their lives. During the production and development process of the songs, each band member had to suffer on private losses and setbacks, which would not have been possible to overcome without the unbelievable team spirit of the boys. The songs explain exactly the “Major Fire” and give an unfiltered insight into the rough and fragile soul of this band. The German guys have remained true to their mix of different facets, however, the album is noticeably heavier than the previous EP. In addition, the album is completed by a guest performance of the singer of the friendly bandMASSENDEFEKT and the involvement of a brass section (who have also made music for THE BOSSHOSS) on two tracks.
Now, finally ENGST‘s time has come to show, without TV cameras and commercial breaks, what they really want to show – authentically, without making a detour and never again determined by others.

»The Disconnect« is HEART OF A COWARD‘s fourth full length album and the first to feature frontman Kaan Tasan. Once again, sound engineers Justin Hill (recording) and Will Putney (mixing and mastering) were involved to make it a roaring success. The writing process for »The Disconnect« has been long and gradual, with initial work beginning in 2017.
Forming the album started with rough instrumental ideas being pieced together – Steve Haycock, guitarist recalled, “The Disconnect was not an easy process to begin with after such an extended hiatus, but once the wheels started rolling it was business as usual. Kaan was really involved with the writing process throughout which gave us a new element to focus on when writing”. Kaan Tasan, who joined the band in late 2017 agreed, “It was one of the most challenging and rewarding writing processes I’ve ever been involved with. Some tracks just clicked and fell into place, whilst other tracks really pushed us all creatively. It was important for us to get the best out of each other – we really did all go in on this together”.
Discussing the more conceptual aspects of the record, Chris Mansbridge, drummer commented, “The Disconnect refers to the feeling of a complete lack of control over your surroundings and the powers that control your life. It’s the feeling of hopelessness, anger and an inability to relate to the world you live in. Its a record we are all extremely proud of and this marks the next chapter of Heart of a Coward.”
HEART OF A COWARD have come a long way since their inception in 2009 – racking up admirable praise from press and fans alike, not forgetting the countless touring miles under their belts.
Formed in Milton Keynes in 2009, HEART OF A COWARD have released three albums to date; »Hope And Hindrance« (2012), »Severance« (2013) and »Deliverance« (2015). Defined by their sheer power and tenacity, the band are celebrated stalwarts of the British metal scene, known for their dynamic live shows and masterful performances. Their focus has always been on producing crushing, yet discerning heavy music; their sound defined by its combination of pure force and expertise, complimented by more subtle, emotional moments and personal narratives. With the addition of new front-man Kaan Tasan in early 2018, HEART OF A COWARD are excited to herald in a new era, alongside the myriad of possibilities that new creative blood holds.
