Canadian hardcore heavyweights GET THE SHOT return with a devastating new single, “CRUCIFIXION DEPICTION”, a brutal and deeply personal confrontation with loss, failure and the painful death of a dream. The track also marks the launch of the pre-order for the band’s upcoming EP of the same name, “CRUCIFIXION DEPICTION”, set for release on October 23, 2026.
Formed in Quebec City in 2009, GET THE SHOT have spent more than 15 years carving out their place in the international hardcore and metal scene. Fueled by an uncompromising DIY mentality and an explosive live presence, the band have taken their music across the globe, playing more than 500 shows on three continents and appearing on major international stages including Hellfest, Jera On Air, Summer Breeze and Groezrock. Across records such as “No Peace In Hell”, “Infinite Punishment” and 2022’s crushing “Merciless Destruction”, GET THE SHOT have continually pushed their hardcore roots into increasingly metallic and extreme territory.
Now, “CRUCIFIXION DEPICTION” pushes that evolution forward while channeling one of the most difficult experiences we face as human beings: losing something that once gave our lives direction and meaning. Built on crushing riffs, merciless grooves and sheer physical intensity, the song turns grief into something violent, visceral and painfully tangible.
Rather than focusing solely on the death of another person, “CRUCIFIXION DEPICTION” explores another form of mourning, the moment a future you fought for collapses in front of you and you are forced to grieve the person you thought you would become. Lines such as “I’m losing everything / Is this the end of me?” capture the desperation at the heart of the track, while its imagery grows increasingly brutal as shattered ambition becomes a symbolic execution.
The central image of the “crucifixion of a dream” turns defeat into something almost physical, a dream hung by the roadside after years of sacrifice, devotion and relentless pursuit. That emotional collapse reaches its most harrowing point in the realization that giving up the chase can hurt as deeply as losing someone close. Faith disappears, walls cave in and regret takes over as the narrator is finally forced to admit defeat after giving everything.
Yet beneath the anger and devastation, “CRUCIFIXION DEPICTION” ultimately reveals an unexpected sense of release. The “crack in the armour” becomes the first glimpse of peace, while abandoning misplaced beliefs opens the possibility of rebuilding after everything has fallen apart.
Musically, GET THE SHOT translate that inner conflict into pure hardcore violence. Punishing rhythms, suffocating heaviness and explosive vocal delivery collide in a track designed to hit with both emotional and physical impact. The stark “Nails. Hammer. Cross.” refrain reduces the song’s central metaphor to three brutal images before its final moments turn sacrifice, self-destruction and liberation against one another.
Through chaos, tribulation and a renewed sense of purpose born from shared devotion, “CRUCIFIXION DEPICTION” stands as a defining statement of where GET THE SHOT are today. It is a song about watching everything you believed in collapse, accepting the death of a dream and discovering that surrender does not always mean weakness. Sometimes, admitting defeat is the only way forward.
With “CRUCIFIXION DEPICTION”, GET THE SHOT open another chapter in a journey that has taken them from Quebec City’s hardcore underground to stages around the world, setting the tone for the “CRUCIFIXION DEPICTION” EP, out October 23, 2026.
